Best Friends

On Saturday night Rob and I let Aiden lay down in our bed to go to sleep so that we could catch up on some recorded DVR shows. We headed up to bed around midnight. This is where we found Aiden! I asked him in the next morning why he laid down with the dogs and he told me that he just wanted to get "comfty". I said "Oh, comfy?" And he said "No, it's comfty".

The Things That He Thinks He Knows

Rob, Aiden, and I were having dinner this evening and I asked them if they would both come with me to run errands. Aiden immediately said "No, you are going to have to go by yourself." Rob told him that it wasn't very nice to make me go alone. He said, "Fine, I will stay here by myself and daddy can go with you." I can't help but argue with him because he is so obstinate, so I told him that wasn't going to happen because it was illegal. He proudly said, "Well, I want to do illegal." Rob and I just had to laugh.

What Will He Be When He Grows Up

As parents we always wonder what the future holds for our son. What will he want to do with his life when he grows up? He has so much potential! Will he be a dramatic actor, a cowboy, a carpenter, a pirate, a moto-cross racer, a rock star, a nudist, a tattoo artist, or a model? I guess we will just have wait and see.

Home Sweet Home

The weekend of February 26th we got to visit lots of our friends in Colorado. It was soooo great to see everyone. We really miss the Fort Collins area and we weren't very motivated to come back to good ole Rock Springs, WY. We are hoping to be able to spend some quality time there this summer. A short weekend just wasn't enough!

The Burris Clan

The same weekend as my graceful stair mastering event my little brother stopped by with his family. It's always good to see them on their way through to Kemmerer. Little miss gets bigger by the day!

Graceful

On February 20th we went to Kemmerer to visit. We made our usual rounds to Grandma Yorgi's, Grandma Janie & Grandpa Darrell's, and Grandma Leslie & Grandpa Randy's. Aiden always plays with a bin of toys at Grandma Leslie's house that they keep upstairs in a closet. It was late and we were ready to head back home. I took the bin upstairs to put away and on my way back down I gracefully missed a step and fell down the stairs. I didn't even fall really, I more like slid on my butt. The trouble was that what stopped me was my foot lodging in between the door and the door jam. I had a lovely visit to the Rock Springs E.R. the next day and left with two fractured toes and a recovery time of 6-8 weeks. Nothing like a self inflicted injury!

Dylan's Birthday Party

Our nephew Dylan turned 2 on February 18th. It has been so great to be so close to my family and to be part of my nieces and nephews little lives. Aiden wants to go to his cousins house everyday. If my sister would take custody of him, he would live there. And there are days that I think about asking her (ha,ha). Happy Birthday Dylan!

My Favorite Times

Everyday that I get to go to work I leave feeling purposeful. I think of all the time and effort that it took for me to finish my Master's Degree and it's now worth every bit of it. I find myself the happiest when I am at East Junior High in the self contained classroom with my severe needs students. These children are titled by society as "disabled", but are they really? I watch them exist in their own little worlds where things like anger, deceit, jealousy, contention, hate, disgust, misery, rejection, and insecurities don't exist. So when we look around us at the world that we live in I am so grateful to have these little souls in my life. These kids truly represent hope, relief, amazement, elation, love, optimism, and contentment!

Cameron's Visit

The weekend of February 13th Rob's good friend Cameron came to stay for the weekend. He has some friends in Green River as well and had a weekend of fishing fun. He's such a great guy. He has one of the best laughs in the whole world. You can't help but be a happy camper when he's around! We need more Cameron's in our lives.
