Our Bilingual Son

So Aiden is pretty fascinated with people speaking Spanish these days. It's kind of embarrassing because anytime we go anywhere and people are speaking Spanish he has to announce it to me with his not so quiet kid voice. He thinks that he knows Spanish because of Dora and Diego and a friend of the family named Miguel. The other day at home he asked me if he could have a snack. I said sure and asked him what he wanted. He told me fruit snacks, which he had already had earlier in the day. I told him I was sorry but that he can only have one pack of fruit snacks per day. He said, "Mom you need to just wait a minute and listen to me because I guess that you don't know that fruit snacks is actually Spanish for grapes. So I was really asking for grapes but you didn't understand because you don't know Spanish like I do." I had no idea that he was as bilingual as he is, but now I know!

Those Arn't My Legos

So don't get me wrong I am entirely grateful to have a son that is a thinker, but there are days that it sure works against me! Aiden had spread his legos over the entire living room today. Granny Suzy came home and went into her room to get her doggy to let out. I asked Aiden to please pick up his legos so that Granny wouldn't step on them when she came back through. And he said "Well actually I am going to change my name and you can call me Ryan now." I said, "Okay great, Ryan go pick up your legos!" And he said "Yeah, actually those aren't my legos. Those are Aiden's legos so you're gonna need to talk to him about it." Of course it ended with I don't care whose legos they are or who you are just get them picked up. But I laughed pretty hard. And Grandma Janie was on the phone with me throughout the ordeal and she thought it was pretty funny too.

A Family Affair At Lava Hot Springs

On August 12th we headed to Lava Hot Springs to meet up with my parents and all of my sisters and their families. It sure is crazy when we all join forces at the same time. As of right now we total 22 all together. We had lots of fun in the sun and at the campfire too. We are grateful to be so close to my family now. Being an only child Aiden loves being around all his cousins! When we all took off from Lava Rob, Aiden, and I headed to Jackson Hole. Rob really wanted to go check it out as he has only heard about it. I must say that as an adult the scenery is much more enjoyable than it was as a kid growing up around these parts. We stopped in Pinedale and had dinner and then headed home ourselves. It was definitely a busy weekend of fun!

Sweetwater County Fair

On August 7th we decided to take Aiden to check out the local county fair. And I must say we were highly disappointed. I guess we are too used to what Cheyenne Frontier Days has to offer. And the stinking wind here makes everything you do a bit less enjoyable. Aiden still had some fun though. If there is any kind of petting zoo and things to ride, he is game!
