Building Our Family

After losing a baby over the summer Rob and I truly understand just how much we want more children in our lives. And Aiden is longing for a sibling more than ever. We could continue to try to conceive but would most likely have to utilize some alternative measures to do so. We have decided as a family that there isn't a need for us to go through all of that in order to add to our family. We have been intensely weighing the benefits and options surrounding both foster care and adoption. At this point we have put fostering on the back burner as there are too many uncontrollable variables that could potentially have a negative impact on Aiden. As he grows older and is able to understand and process through the gravity of those types of circumstances then we will put that thought back on the table. For now though we have chosen adoption and have finally selected an agency to work with. We are moving full speed ahead with all of the requirements that are necessary for approval. Once we are approved by our agency then we wait for the right placement to come along. We are nervous and ecstatic at the same time. There are a lot of decisions that we have to make in order to complete our profile. From here we are just going to open our hearts and our minds and wait for our plan to unfold which is so much easier said than done.

Daddy's 38th Birthday

On September 15th Rob turned the big 38! I have to continually tease him about being eight years older than me. I can't help myself. He got a new pair of fancy skate shoes that he wanted and a collectors knife from Granny Suzy. Aiden sang him "Happy Birthday" loud and proud and then we took him out for a yummy steak dinner. And even though he is an old timer he is still the best man I have ever known.

A Cozy Sunday Afternoon

On September 12th Rob and I spent some well deserved time on the couch. And Aiden spent some time curled up on the floor in his very own doggie bed next to Tava in hers. It was chilly in our house that day so EVERYONE needed blankets.

Wyoming Cowboy's Football Game

On September 4th Rob and I dropped Aiden off in Kemmerer with Grandma Janie and Grandpa Darrell so that we could head to Laramie to see a Wyoming Cowboys game courtesy of Rob's new boss. Thanks to my cousin Marcus Rob got a new job with a great company. Every year the owner, Bruce Pivic, takes all of his employees and their families to an all inclusive home game and overnight stay. He is a Cowboy's junkie! We wanted some mom and dad time and Aiden wanted some grandparent time. We mostly hung out with another new employee named Jesse and his wife Devon. They have the cutest little boys and since they brought them I got some baby time, which is like my favorite thing in the whole world. The Cowboy's won which is always a bonus when you are actually at the game. I went to Kemmerer on Monday to pick up Aiden and when I got there he was too busy to leave right away. He was at Grandma and Grandpa's store and told me "Mom, I work here now and I have some things I need to finish up." So he helped Grandma restock some lettuce and we were on our way. Aiden loved the souvenir we brought him. He wanted to wear it in the car but it just wouldn't fit so he had to wait until we got home.

Spiderman's Park

On August 25th Aiden and I took a walk to play at "Spiderman's Park" as he calls it. For him it was just another trip to the park but for me it was one of the last mid day do what ever we wanted to kind of moments. The start of the school year was quickly approaching and though I feel purposeful everyday that I go to work sometimes I just long to be with my son. It's easy to get caught up in the everyday rush and to forget that they will only be little once.

Aiden's Last Soccer Game

On August 19th Grandma Janie and Grandpa Darrell came over to see Aiden and Theran's last soccer game. We don't really think that soccer is Aiden's cup of tea but if he wants to play again then I suppose we will brave the Wyoming wind and cheer him on.

Doctor Archibald

On August 18th Dylan came over with his dad to pick some stuff up and we asked if Dylan could hang out and play with Aiden just for a bit. He walked in A's room and brought out the doctor kit and went straight to work. Aiden must have had some horrible condition because he had to have several shots straight in the head. As weird as it is Aiden loves going to the doctor so he sat like a trooper for Dr. Archibald.

Soccer Monster

On August 16th Aiden had his second to last soccer game. We were proud because he had more contact with the ball this game than he did the whole season. It's funny how you put your kids in extracurricular activities to keep them active but you just can't suppress wanting them to be really successful. But in the long run who really cares if he just wants to chase his shadow or throw grass. As long as he is a happy camper we will be happy too!
