Last Minute Costume Swap

So Aiden chose to be Flash from the Marvel Super Hero Squad this year for Halloween. We ordered his costume online and he was really excited when it came and he tried it on. As Halloween neared I hit Kmart up as I knew their kids costumes would go on sale for 75% off. Aiden loves to dress up for fun year round so I thought I would score some dress up stuff for cheap. One of the costumes I picked up was this cute commando squad costume, and when he saw it he was sold. Flash was quickly a thing of the past. He refused to even consider it and we figured since it is a child's holiday he could wear whatever he wanted. He was in full commando mode when in uniform and he said to me, "Hey mom, now I'm one of the people we pray for huh?" And I said sure, thinking in the back of my mind that someday he may be.

Potion Mishap

On October 25th we finally caved in to Aiden's constant and frequent requests to make a potion. All the Halloween stories were getting the best of him. He wanted to use the whole fridge of course so I selected some ingredients for him: ketchup, mustard, yogurt, salt, pepper, juice, and baking soda. He very carefully added and mixed everything up in a glass salad dressing shaker. After he was done he wanted to give it a good shake so we let him, not thinking off all of the vinegar in the ketchup and mustard that would mix with the baking soda. Everyone knows what vinegar and baking soda do together. He shook it as hard as he could and the top blew off it like a rocket. It was hilarious. Rob got the whole thing on video and I must say it's "America's Funniest Home Video's" worthy. He continues to ask if we can make another potion and the answer continues to be "NO"!

Oh Fall

On October 20th we took Aiden to a make shift pumpkin patch. We still miss Harvest Farms in Colorado where you actually go to the pumpkin patch and pick your own pumpkins, from the pumpkin field. A chain link parking lot just doesn't feel right, but Aiden loved it anyhow. We are pretty sure the appeal for him was the huge bounce house slide that he spent over an hour on. We love the fall because of all the changing colors and leaves but we dread it at the same time knowing a Wyoming winter is soon to follow. Aiden asked me why they called it Fall and I told him it was because all of the leaves are falling. He said, "Oh, no kidding!"

Green River Rock Slide On I-80

On October 14th Aiden and I were coming home from Rock Springs and came to a pretty immediate stop on I-80. We could see that traffic was backed up for miles and knew we were in for a long wait. Rob called us and let us know there had been a rock slide that had caused some major accidents. A portion of a rock face near Green River had triggered a dust cloud that caused white out conditions, which was the cause of the accidents. Four vehicles were involved and started off with a Ford Focus rear ending a tractor trailer. A van pulling a trailer with an airplane body on it was also hit from behind by an additional tractor trailer. The impact flipped the body of the plane off of the trailer, over the van, and through the front window of the tractor trailer that the Ford Focus had hit. Injuries were sustained but there were miraculously no fatalities. It took Aiden and I about two hours to get home that day. And after looking at these photos that were posted in the paper we were just grateful that no one lost their lives that day.

Hogle Zoo

On October 19th we headed back to Salt Lake for a follow up appointment with Rob's surgeon. Everything looked great and they wanted to see him back on November 9th. The appointment didn't take long at all so we decided to take Aiden to the zoo. I hadn't been to the Hogle Zoo since my oldest niece's were really little. It doesn't even come close to the Denver Zoo, but we still had lots of fun. The weather was perfect and we didn't have to fight any crowds. And on the way home we stopped at the Evanston rest stop and got to see all the buffalo. It was a full day of animal fun!

Green River Swim Lessons

Aiden had previously been taking swim lessons at the college in Rock Springs. The scheduling wasn't really working out for us since we moved to Green River. You wouldn't think that 15 minutes each way would make a huge difference, but it does. So Aiden started lessons at the Rec Center in Green River and I have to say we are very impressed with them. Their program has more to offer and is way more child oriented. All of his instructors are really fun. He loves the water and we hope he continues to!

Lil Artist

You never know, his work could end up in a museum hallway someday. The sky is the limit!
